As part of Measures E and U General Obligation Bond passage, AEC provided civil engineering design services to reconfigure the parking lot and access to improve safety and efficiency. New improved design elements include, upgrading the parent drop off; providing a separated bus drop off zone; adding a second driveway entrance to improve circulation; and adding a pathway to, and installing crosswalk improvements at Alder Drive.

This project involved three main sections of sewer maintained by the Tahoe City Public Utility District in the Alpine Peaks area of the west shore were in need of repair and replacement. The high altitude, steep terrain, and depth of existing lines made this project challenging, but interesting. AEC was able to provide background investigation, surveys, civil engineering design, and construction phase services for this project. Approval processing, funding support, and bid phase services were also provided for the Client.

The Truckee High School Track upgrade included the replacement of the existing track with a synthetic track surface, new restrooms, bleachers, and ADA compliant accessibility throughout. AEC tasks included storm drainage and water quality treatment for the new track as well as design and reconfiguration of three existing parking areas, drive aisles, walkways, and utility connections to the new restrooms.

Date of completion: 2016

The project involved dredging of lake access to the previous dredged elevation of 6220’ to enable boat operation at lower lake levels. AEC was retained for civil design, topographic and bathymetric surveys, construction inspection/monitoring, as well as permit compliance. AEC provided TRPA, Lahontan, CDFW, and California State Lands permitting compliance/acknowledgement as well as environmental clearance for a California State Parks Right-of-Entry in order to facilitate an early construction start date.

Date of completion: 2016

State Route 89 between Squaw Valley Road and Tahoe City was reconstructed by Caltrans during the summer of 2010. The project has included several vehicle pull-outs along the highway, which, in turn, have become heavily utilized for recreational access to the Truckee River and the Truckee River Bike Trail. However, there was no direct or formal access to the adjacent bike trail or river from the pull-outs. As such, informal access was occurring at multiple locations causing safety concerns as well as erosion between SR 89 and the bike trail. AEC provided survey, civil design, permitting, and construction inspection services for the implementation of permanent BMPs and improved access.

Date of completion: 2016

Measures E and U are General Obligation Bonds that were approved by voters in November of 2014. Since that time, a great deal of work has been underway for the district's facility upgrade projects. AEC provided civil engineering design services for Glenshire School addition, which included: reconfiguring the parking lot; improving bus drop off and access to improve safety and efficiency, providing frontage improvements; dry and wet utility relocation; and stormwater drainage improvements. The new improved design elements improved circulation and qualified the project for the Safe Routes to School program in the Town of Truckee.

Date of completion: 2012

The Lakeside Trail is a one-mile segment in the largest paved trail system at Lake Tahoe, connecting the North Shore, West Shore, and the Truckee River and Squaw Valley. This segment courses through the core of Tahoe City in close proximity to the Truckee River and Lake Tahoe and was developed in seven phases due to its complexities. Water quality and coverage mitigation strategies were successfully implemented throughout the trail and allowed for enhanced restoration of areas that had been previously disturbed. Managed public access and friendly barrier features have kept users on the trail and away from sensitive areas. Major utility upgrades and relocations as well as storm water treatment facilities and source control measures on and off site were key benefits of the trail.

Date of completion: 2017

The Airport Warehouse Office Building, now home to Clear Capital, is a 12,840 square foot modern steel office structure built within Truckee-Tahoe Airport property. The project includes a reconfiguration of the existing airport long-term parking area, circulation and access improvements, storm drainage and water quality treatments, sidewalks, and roadway improvements. AEC provided civil design level services, CEQA support, and construction phase services.

Date of completion: 2016

The Tahoe City Winter Sports Park is a recreation concession provided by Tahoe-XC for the TCPUD on the Tahoe City Golf Course and adjoining property. The Winter Sports Park offers cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, sledding, and ice skating during the winter. The outdoor seasonal ice skating rink was built in 2016, expanding the winter recreational opportunities. AEC provided planning, design, and permitting services for the project.

Date of completion: 2018

Complete design services for a water line interconnection between Tahoe Cedars Water System and McKinney Quail Water System (MQWS). In anticipation of TCPUD’s acquisition of the Tahoe Cedars Water System, the project increases the capacity and storage capable of delivering sufficient fire protection requirements to all areas of Tahoe Cedars for both districts. In addition to adding fire hydrants to meet current fire protection requirements, the project also improves water system operations by providing source redundancy.
